FATCA Background

The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) was enacted by the United States of America (U.S.) on March 18, 2010 as part of the U.S. Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act.

 

FFI Information

The Competent Authority to be designated. FFIs are required to register with the IRS and will be assigned a Global Intermediary Identification Number (GIIN). 

 

 

Grenada and FATCA IGA

The island of Grenada has selected the Model 1B IGA, where all information required under FATCA will be submitted by the FFI to the government’s Competent Authority (IRD) for FATCA purposes.

 

 

 

FATCA Implementation

On November 29th 2016 the Government of Grenada represented by Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Keith Mitchell signed the Inter-Governmental Agreement to implement the U. S. FATCA between the two countries.
